About a tenth of Metro Manila is under tree canopy, and most of it sits in one city.
Across the 17 cities of the National Capital Region the area-weighted tree cover is roughly nine to ten per cent (the latest year reads 8.82 per cent and is provisional). Quezon City alone, anchored by the La Mesa watershed, carries the regional average; pull it out and the figure roughly halves. These are annual snapshots from satellite imagery, not a measured loss series.
Every 30-metre pixel is classified by a model trained on 656 hand-checked high-resolution points (F1 0.78), and the whole pipeline is open and reproducible from a clean clone. The map is a tree-cover estimate with a known grass-and-scrub margin, not a pixel-exact census.
